Charly TARGET cross

The CHARLY TARGETcross combines all the advantages of a cross canopy with the extra safety of the ST versions’ optional steerability. High-quality materials, especially the waterproof ultra-light silk and Dyneema lines, guarantee minimal weight and packing volume.

The TARGETcross owes its special flight characteristics to the elaborate manufacturing with different line lengths. Although this makes the packing procedure of the TARGETcross somewhat different from that of a conventional cross canopy, it is not more complicated.
Its S-shaped canopy trim provides a high righting moment, so that the TARGETcross is in a stall for a short time imediately after opening. This reliably prevents a downplane position of the reserve. The paraglider is quickly unloaded and dives down. This prevents the danger of a scissor position between the rescue system and the paraglider, facilitates the recovery of the main glider and allows the unhooking of one riser with FINSTERWALDER Pinlock or even conventional carabiners.
The sinking of the TARGETcross during stall corresponds to that of a conventional cross canopy. The then beginning forward movement in the direction of the red marked corner further reduces the sink rate significantly.
Steerability is an optional feature of the ST versions of the TARGETcross. If it is not used after deployment, e.g. due to low altitude, the landing will be the same as with a conventional cross canopy. If required, the Basic versions of the TARGETcross can be converted to be steerable by the manufacturer at a later date.

• Due to different line lengths, the base of the TARGETcross is fanned out in a zigzag pattern. This significantly accelerates the air intake into the canopy.
• Effective reduction of the risk of of entanglements with the main glider: The lines of the TARGETcross are made longer, so that the canopy opens approximately in the radius of the main glider and not within reach of the paraglider lines.
• Soft and pliant Dyneema line material enables steering even with multiple twists.
• The inner container has been developed on the G-Force Trainer and features an extra compartment for the lines; it is available for both integrated and front containers.
